Programs

The graduate certificate program and the master's degree program in Correctional Health Administration have been developed by Newton E. Kendig, MD, clinical professor of medicine at the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences (SMHS). Kendig is a retired assistant surgeon general in the United States Public Health Service and former medical director of the Federal Bureau of Prisons. In addition to directing the Correctional Health Administration Program, Kendig is spearheading other criminal justice health initiatives for the university.
